Where to watch Mammootty’s Kalamkaval

The 2025 Malayalam film Kalamkaval, starring Mammootty as a serial killer, released in theatres on December 5 was scheduled to make its OTT debut on January 16, 2026. But the slow-burn Malayalam thriller film arrived a day in advance on January 15 on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium. The platform does premiere Malayalam releases at least a day in advance as was seen in Rekhachithram and Marco, but no one is complaining over these early surprises. Apart from Malayalam, Kalamkaval is available to stream in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi with English subtitles.

What is Kalamkaval plot

Helmed by debutante Jithin K Jose, Kalamkaval follows cop Jayakrishnan who comes across several instances of missing women. The cop senses a pattern between these missing cases, who are from Kerala and Tamil Nadu. As he puts the pieces of the puzzle together, he is shocked to realise it is a case of serial killing. Stanley Das is revealed to be the killer even as the cops seek to hunt him down but he manages to slip away. A taut thriller, Kalamkaval does not deviate from its plot and sticks to the policeman’s relentless pursuit even as the killer refuses to back off from his sinister plots.

Who are the actors in Kalamkaval

Actor Vinayakan plays the cop in Kalamkaval, while megastar Mammootty is seen as the menacing serial killer. Dies Irae actor Gibin Gopinath plays a police personnel in the film, which also features Gayatri Arun, Rajisha Vijayan and Shruti Ramachandran. Director Jithin K. Jose has also penned the film along with Jishnu Sreekumar.

After the lacklustre outings of Dominic and the Ladies Purse and Bazooka, Kalamkaval was the only hit of Mammootty in 2025. Notably, Bazooka is yet to make its digital debut, though it was released way before Kalamkaval in April 2025.
