Malayalam actor Kalidas Jayaram terms Param Sundari as the worst movie he has seen

When Kalidas Jayaram was asked about the one bad movie that he had watched recently, the Ashakal Aayiram actor named Param Sundari, adding that how they portrayed our culture looked like a mockery.

Bollywood film Param Sundari was released in theatres in mid-2025, but was brutally trolled by Malayalis for the portrayal of the state and its people. Looks like Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s film is still hogging attention even in 2026 and again for the wrong reasons. Young Malayalam actor Kalidas Jayaram too has slammed the movie, terming it as the worst movie he has seen.

What did Kalidas Jayaram say about Param Sundari

In a recent interview with the YouTube channel Irfan’s View, actors Kalidas Jayaram and Jayaram were asked about the one bad movie that they had watched recently.

Kalidas was quick to answer. “I will say Param Sundari - it was the worst. How they portrayed our culture and everything looked like mockery. It was very bad,” Kalidas said in Tamil.

The 2025 Hindi film Param Sundari, which narrated a north-south cross-cultural romance, was mainly set in Kerala. The film’s lead heroine was Sundari, played by actress Janhvi Kapoor, who could not pull off the language, leading to a meme fest. The film, helmed by Tushar Jalota, was brutally trolled by the Malayalis online from the moment the first teaser dropped.

However, senior Malayalam actor-writer Renji Panicker, who was also part of the Hindi film, defended Param Sundari pointing out that th e movie was not meant for Keralites.

The Hindi romance-comedy film follows Delhi lad Param (Sidharth Malhotra), who gets matched to Sundari, who runs a homestay in Kerala, via a dating app.

On the other hand, Kalidas Jayaram was recently seen in the Malayalam film Ashakal Aayiram, along with his father Jayaram. While Kalidas plays a youth who aspires to be an actor, Jayaram plays his father. Asha Sharath, Sharaf U Dheen, and Ishaani Krishna play other key roles in the film, directed by G Prajith.
