The remastered version of the Gautham Menon film is all set to hit screens later this month

We know that Kamal Haasan's super hit cop drama, Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu is gearing up for its re-release. The latest we hear is that the remastered version of the film is all set to hit screens on June 23. Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu, directed by Gautham Menon, has Kamal Haasan as DCP Raghavan.

The film stars Jyotika and Kamalinee Mukherjee as the leading ladies and Daniel Balaji as the prime antagonist. The supporting cast includes Prakash Raj, Salim Baig, Lev Gorn, Yog Japee, Ahuti Prasad, Janaki Sabesh, Ganesh, and Rajashree to name a few.

Vettaiyaadu Vilayadu originally hit screens in 2006. The plot revolves around a police officer, who investigates a series of brutal rapes and murders, with the culprits spanning across the world. The story moves around the psycho killer and the shrewd police officer.

Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu has music by Harris Jayaraj, cinematography by Ravi Varman and editing by Anthony. The action drama is bankrolled by Seventh Channel Communications and the film emerged as a super hit at the box office.

Ever since the news of the re-release began doing the rounds, fans began to trend the hashtag #NayaganMeendumVaraar, which is inspired from a song in Kamal Haasan's last outing, Vikram, which was helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Kamal Haasan, in the meantime, is gearing up for the release of his long-delayed flick, Indian 2, which is directed by Shankar. The film is a sequel to the 1996 film of the same name and Kamal Haasan will reprise the iconic character, freedom fighter and vigilante Senapathi.

Shankar had dropped Kamal Haasan's look from the film on the occasion of the actor's birthday. However, the rest of his looks have been kept under wraps. Indian 2 has an ensemble cast which includes Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani to name a few.
