Jonathan Entwistle's Karate Kid: Legends connects the stories of The Karate Kid (2010) and the hit Netflix series Cobra Kai (2018–2025), making it the sixth feature in the franchise. With this film, Ralph Macchio, who last appeared in The Karate Kid Part III (1989), returns to the franchise, reprising his role as Daniel LaRusso. After portraying the role of kung fu coach Mr. Han in the 2010 reboot, Jackie Chan is back.
A kung fu prodigy named Li Fong (Ben Wang) is the protagonist of the story, having moved to New York City from China. The city's martial arts scene captivates Li after an altercation with a karate champion. Li starts training for a big karate tournament with the help of his teacher and great-uncle, Mr. Han, as well as Miyagi-Do sensei Daniel LaRusso. Embracing his unique journey, the young fighter in the film goes over the theories of kung fu and karate.

In addition to featuring familiar faces, the film introduces a fresh perspective by following Li as she learns from two distinct teachers. This has also resulted in a notable shift in the creative direction of the franchise. Following Jerry Weintraub's 2015 death, the production credits for Karate Kid: Legends have changed hands for the first time.
At Cinépolis Mitikah in Mexico City, the film had its global debut on May 7, 2025. Sony Pictures Releasing released it to theatres in the United States on May 30, 2025. It received mixed critical responses, with praise for the performances of Chan and Macchio and criticism directed at the screenplay. Yet, at over $106 million worldwide, it did rather well at the box office.
Karate Kid: Legends is both a continuation of Cobra Kai and a legacy sequel, continuing the story and introducing new viewers to the universe that Cobra Kai left behind. Launching on Netflix in India, the newest installment continues the franchise's tradition that started more than 40 years ago by bringing the action straight to fans' homes.
