Khalifa: Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh joins Prithviraj's film, marks Malayalam debut

Khalifa’s lead actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has announced that Hindi actor Neil Nitin Mukesh will be part of his upcoming film, which is likely to be a 2026 Onam release.

Malayalam actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran is busy with his upcoming film Khalifa, the shooting for which is currently underway. After reports earlier this week said that superstar Mohanlal has joined Prithviraj for shooting in Kochi, another exciting update about the movie has dropped. Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh will also be joining the much-awaited film, marking his Malayalam film debut.

Khalifa’s lead actor Prithviraj Sukumaran announced on Thursday that Hindi actor Neil Nitin Mukesh will be part of his upcoming film. The Empuraan director also shared a poster of Neil Nitin Mukesh from Khalifa, while making the announcement on the Hindi actor’s birthday on January 15. Prithviraj wrote in the caption, “Happy birthday Neil Nitin Mukesh! Welcome to the Malayalam film industry!”

Neil Nitin, who has starred in Hindi films such as Johnny Gaddaar and New York with Katrina Kaif, had early made his south debut with the Tamil film Kaththi in 2014. He had also starred in the Telugu film, Kavacham, four years later. But he is making his Malayalam debut over a decade after his first south outing. However, it is not known what character Niel would be playing in the Vysakh directorial.

Prithviraj films have featured actors from other languages earlier too. For his directorial debut Lucifer in 2019, Prithviraj had cast Hindi actor Vivek Oberoi as the villain Bobby. Vivek Oberoi was also part of Prithviraj’s Kaduva, which was helmed by Shaji Kailas.

Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the lead role of Aamir Ali in Vysakh’s film. Superstar Mohanlal will also make a cameo appearance as Aamir’s grandfather. Comedian-turned-character actor Indrans will also be featured in the film. Jakes Bejoy will compose the music, with Jomon T. John as the cinematographer. Jinu Abraham has penned the film, which is expected to be an Onam 2026 release.
