Is Kiara Advani playing a character inspired from a real-life person in Toxic?

In only 3 months, Kannada cinema’s Rocking Star Yash’s next, Toxic, will finally be in theatres, and after months of speculation about the cast, which the team never officially confirmed, they’ve begun doing so with first-look posters of the characters. On December 21, it was the turn of Kiara Advani to be introduced as Nadia, set against the backdrop of a circus.

It didn’t take long for fans to dissect the image and come up with speculation about her character. One of the theories is that Kiara’s Nadia has a real-life connect. Fans think that the role’s been modelled on Fearless Nadia, the first stuntwoman of Indian cinema. An Australian-Indian actress, Mary Ann Evans, who went by the stage name Fearless Nadia, worked in India as a theatre artiste and performed with the Zarko Circus in the 30s, before being introduced to Hindi cinema by Jamshed Wadia and going on to be a big hit with audiences.

Considering that Toxic is said to be story set in the 50’s and 60s, there could be something to this speculation, since Nadia was active in Hindi cinema in that period. Now that the team has officially begun dropping confirmations about the cast, fans are hopeful that they will get a longer teaser on leading man Yash’s birthday on January 8.

The Geetu Mohandas directorial is set for March 19, 2026 theatrical release, having been pushed ahead from its April 10, 2025 date. The film also stars Sudev Nair, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, Nayanthara, Akshay Oberoi, among others, with Geetu’s husband and fellow filmmaker Rajeev Ravi credited with cinematography, while KGF’s Ravi Basrur handles the music. The film will clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 at the box office.
