In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Abhilash Joshiy had said, “It’s a gangster film based on the events that happen in a town called Kotha. It’s not a typical ‘mass’ film; it has equal importance to emotions, romance and songs as much as action."

There was buzz that 2018 star Tovino Thomas would be seen in the film. However, it turned out that both the actors were shooting in Karaikudi at the same time and Tovino Thomas had merely paid a visit to Dulquer Salmaan. Tovino also stated that he wished the King of Kotha team his very best. Interestingly, the duo had earlier teamed up for the film, Kurup, in which Tovino was seen in a special appearance.

The film is scripted by Porinju Mariyam Joshiy’s writer Abhilash N Chandran, and is bankrolled by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films. The actor has ensured that the film turns out to be a visual spectacle and has gone great lengths to achieve the same.
