Director Krishand, who has been able to stand out with his distinct filmmaking style with movies such as Purusha Pretham, would be collaborating with Malayalam superstar Mohanlal for an upcoming movie. Fans have been excited about the project, though more details of the project are not known. Now, Krishand himself has addressed the genre of the upcoming Mohanlal movie, clarifying that it is not a sci-fi movie.

Noted Malayalam film director Krishand, who has carved a niche for himself in the industry, is gearing up for the release of his next film Sangharsha Ghadana (The Art of Warfare) on August 8, 2025. Before the film’s release, Krishand joined in for an AMA session (Ask Me Anything) on a Reddit sub where he also addressed queries on his upcoming film with Mohanlal.

When one of the Reddit users asked him about the genre of the Mohanlal movie, and whether it is sci-fi, Krishand replied that it will not be sci-fi. "Detective polathe, comedy polathe - not sci-fi (like detective, like comedy),” reads his reply on the social media platform.

When he was asked if the movie will start rolling soon, he replied that some more sessions are left.

Though much is known about the upcoming film, Maniyanpilla Raju recently confirmed that he is also a part of the project. He had also spoken about joining hands with new-age filmmakers like Krishand.

On the other hand, Mohanlal’s upcoming film is Hridayapoorvam which is slated to hit theatres on August 28, 2025, as an Onam release.
