Atharvaa's long-delayed film Kuruthi Aattam finally hit the screens on August 5. The movie directed by Sri Ganesh has been carrying good expectations among cinephiles as his previous outing, 8 Thottakal, which also marked his debut, is one of the engaging thrillers released in Tamil in the last decade.

However, Kuruthi Aattam opened to mixed reviews from critics and the audience. The film was released along with two other Tamil projects and earned more collections than the other two on the first day, but the lack of encouraging response spoiled its box office prospects.

Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the female lead in the movie which has Radhika Sarathkumar, Radha Ravi, Vatsan Chakravarthi, Kanna Ravi and Vinod Sagar among others essaying pivotal roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja's background score and action choreography by Vicky are two aspects which received appreciation from film buffs.

Though the film has an engaging plot, its lacklustre screenplay, presence of too many characters and long duration made it difficult for the audience to enjoy the movie. Its story revolves around a youngster who sets out to take revenge against a few goons who assassinated his friend.

Kuruthi Aattam will drop on aha Tamil on September 2, exactly on the fourth week of its theatrical release. The social media page of the digital platform announced the same yesterday. T Muruganantham of Rockfort Entertainment has bankrolled the film which has cinematography and editing by Dinesh Purushothaman and Anil Krish respectively.

Kumar Gangappan has helmed art direction for the project which has lyrics jointly penned by Yugabharathi and Karthik Netha. Though makers had planned to release the film in 2020 soon after the first lockdown, it got postponed due to a few reasons.
