L365: Mohanlal to play a cop in Austin Dan Thomas' directorial debut?

Mohanlal's next film has been announced by its makers today (July 8). It has been confirmed that the untitled movie will be called 'L365' for now. A first poster revealing the main crew of the project was shared by the makers.

Through a first poster, it has been revealed that the film will be helmed by actor Austin Dan Thomas, who is making his directorial debut with this project. He is known for playing supporting parts in films such as Thallumaala and Vijay Superum Pournamiyum. Retheesh Ravi has penned the screenplay for the movie, which is bankrolled by Ashiq Usman under the banner of Ashiq Usman Productions. The poster hints at Malayalam's superstar playing a cop in the film as it shows a police officer's shirt hanging in a washroom. L365 is touted to be a thriller, according to sources. Further details on the cast and anticipated release date are expected in the coming days.

Mohanlal's line-up of films in 2025

The Lucifer star has been having an amazing year, with a number of successful films coming out in theatres in the first half of 2025. Despite generating a great deal of controversy, L2 Empuraan made a substantial amount of money at the box office. Following its theatrical debut, the film rose to become one of the highest-grossing Malayalam productions of the year. In the meantime, both the general public and critics praised Thudarum, which was directed by Tharun Moorthy. Additionally, the movie brought in over ₹100 crore at the global box office.

Mohanlal will star in Hridayapoorvam, which is scheduled to be released in theatres on Onam 2025, and Mahesh Narayanan's Patriot, which also features Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, and Kunchacko Boban, are among Mohanlal's next projects. He will also reportedly make a brief appearance in Dileep's next movie, Bha Bha Ba. In addition, the actor will host Big Boss Malayalam Season 7, a popular reality show that will be available for streaming on OTTplay Premium and JioHotstar. In the meantime, Jude Anthany Joseph's upcoming film, Thudakkam, will mark the acting debut of Vismaya, Mohanlal's daughter.
