Kannada music composer Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, 45, stars Shivarajkumar, Upendra and Raj B Shetty in the lead. The film, according to Arjun, was conceived during the pandemic, when he lost his brother to Covid-19. It is said to be based on Sanatana Dharma tenets surrounding the 45 days after a person’s death, which determines the forward journey of a soul – to the afterlife, or to be reborn. Raj plays a common man, around whose character the central plot revolves. The film also stars Jaffer Sadiq, Rajendran and Pramod Shetty in pivotal roles. The film has been dubbed in other languages, but only the Kannada version will be out this week, with the rest set for the New Year.
