Even as Aadu 3 makes waves at the box office, a new set of Malayalam titles are set for their theatrical and OTT release. While Nivin Pauly’s political movie Prathichaya makes its much-awaited theatrical debut, there is also a campus film, Derby hitting theatres this week. Prathichaya

Release date: March 26

Actor Nivin Pauly is back at the cinemas, but this time in a political film. The Sarvam Maya star will be seen as the son of the Chief Minister in the film, helmed by B Unnikrishnan. Power politics and the impact on the family would be explored in the upcoming movie. Senior actor Balachandra Menon, Sharaf U Dheen, and Harisree Ashokan play other key roles. This is the second major film to hit theatres in March after Jayasurya-led Aadu 3 Part 1 on March 19.

Derby

Release date: March 27, 2026

Young actors Adam Sabiq, Sagar Surya and Ameen lead the new film. The Onam celebrations at a college, and the tussle between the second and third year students appear to be the premise of the film, the recently released trailer. Directed by Sajil Mampad, Derby promises to be a fun campus entertainer. Senior actors Johny Antony, Shine Tom Chacko, and Shabareesh Varma are also part of the film. The movie has music and BGM by Gopi Sundar.

Kaattaan

Release date: March 27

Popular Vijay Sethupathi leads this upcoming Tamil web series, which will also be available in Malayalam. A rural drama, Kaattaan revolves around a village and its people who are startled to find a severed yet talking head on their land. Milind Soman, Muthukumaran, and Singampuli are also part of the upcoming series, directed by M.Manikandan and B Ajithkumar.
