Karan Kundrra reflects on Season 1 and how the show evolved

Season 2 saw the return of Karan Kundrra, a participant from the previous season who partnered with YouTuber Elvish Yadav and filled in for Abdu Rozik in the middle of the run. They didn't let their late entry slow them down; the pair surged to the lead and ultimately prevailed.

During an interview with Indian Express, Kundrra discussed the development of the show and his experiences across the two seasons. He recalled that the first season ended suddenly, and no one came out on top. What began as a mere filler show transformed into a heated debate as we all attempted to understand the essence of the show.

He pointed out that aside from Bharti and Chef Harpal, there were 16 other team members in Season 2, and there was a hiatus after Season 1 ended, so naturally, there were many problems. But being back on the show is like therapy for him.

Karan Kundrra discovers his passion for cooking

Despite Kundrra's lack of culinary experience prior to his time on Laughter Chefs he freely acknowledged that the show piqued his interest in cooking. The actor said that making his culinary debut on Laughter Chefs was a watershed moment in his life. Actually, he has never been in the kitchen before. He had no idea he would take such pleasure in cooking and that he had a natural talent for it. By the second season, Kundrra had figured out how to cook delicious cuisine.

The actor remarked that shooting for the show is way more enjoyable, describing the energy on set. He went on to say, "What translates on screen is just 40-50 minutes, but we shoot for 16 hours, so imagine all the fun we have. I was shooting in Dubai and would never miss a day. I would take a flight at 3:30 am after shooting all day and night, come here, and would not even feel tired; that’s how great the contestants were in both seasons."

Initial scepticism

Kundrra reflected on their original reservations about becoming part of the series and admitted, "Yes, we were sceptical. We didn’t know what we were getting into. There were so many questions and apprehensions about working with 16 other people. I’ll be very honest, actors are very insecure people; they don’t want to share their screen space, everybody is worried about positioning, but we lucked out. In both seasons, nobody was negative on the show; that’s what made it very happy to shoot. One wrong contestant and things could go south, but that never happened."

The future of Laughter Chefs is something Kundrra is optimistic about. The actor has no idea if there are discussions on a third season, but he thinks it's inevitable. He boasted about the show's high ratings and global reach.
