Netflix India has announced a new Tamil series - Legacy, which stars Dhurandhar actor Madhavan along with actress Nimisha Sajayan and Abhishek Banerjee. Another highlight of the series is that it has music scored by the maestro, Ilaiyaraaja.

What is Legacy
Legacy is the latest Tamil series, announced by Netflix India as it unveils its slate for 2026. The streaming giant also released a teaser of the upcoming series, which promises a gripping tale around power politics. The glimpse showed Madhavan in the lead role of the powerful politician Periyavar.
We are told that a loyal cavalry, the political weight, faith of the people and a family are the unshakable pillars of Periyavar's fortress and his rivals seek to break them down one by one. The teaser is peppered with combat, unrest scenes. Nimisha Sajayan first makes an appearance in a light-hearted dance scene but she too takes up arms later on. Periyavar says that it is your right to hold on to the throne, while it is his right to uphold the faith people have on him
The Tamil series will also be available in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. But the streamer did not announce an exact release date for the Legacy series. This would be the second Tamil series of the platform after The Game: You Never Play Alone. Shraddha Srinath played the lead role in the 2025 series along with Santhosh Prathap and Chandini Tamilarasan.
Madhavan's other titles on Netflix are the Tamil film Test and the Hindi blockbuster Dhurandhar. Nimisha Sayayan played a key role in the Netflix series, Dabba Cartel.

As part of unveiling its slate for 2026, Netflix announced several new titles, including the courtroom drama Ikka which stars Bollywood actors Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna. Anil Kapoor and Vijay Varma’s Family Business was another major title announced on Friday. The Great Indian Kapil Show, the Telugu series Super Subbu and Dhindoraa 2 were also announced.
