The action-packed film follows two youths who venture into the criminal world in Thrissur. Their paths cross with that of Giri, who vows vengeance after certain events. Joju George also plays the lead role of local goon leader Giri in this film, which also featured Abhinaya, Sagar Surya and Junaiz VP in other key roles. The raw action scenes, thrilling elements and the intense emotions in the film are likely factors that had hooked the viewers, putting Pani in the top spot.

Marco

Unni Mukundan’s action film Marco stormed its way into the Rs 100 crore club, with its power-packed action sequences and intense performances. The film depicts a brutal tale of revenge, as Marco vows vengeance after his foster brother Victor, who is also blind, gets killed. As the leads point to aspiring actress Rekha, viewers are taken on a journey to a film set from 1985. Mysterious and dramatic, Rekhachithram was much hailed by both critics and the audiences for paying a unique tribute to Malayalam cinema.

Alappuzha Gymkhana

After the rom-com Premalu’s success, young star Naslen once again proved his worth with Alappuzha Gymkhana, where boxing takes the centre stage. After failing in the plus-two exams, Jojo and his friends decide to try their hand in the state-level boxing competition to get a college admission through sports quota. A sports comedy, Alappuzha Gymkhana is a fun watch which land quite a few knockout humorous punches. Eko actor Sandeep Pradeep, Lukman Avaran, and Ganapathi S. Poduval play other key roles in the film, helmed by Khalid Rahman.

Narivetta

Tovino Thomas donned the khaki for this political action thriller, where he is seen as rookie cop Varghese. The reluctant cop is thrust into the volatile situation of agitating tribals as the police try to quell the protests. But an unexpected tragedy awakens Varghese to the horrors of the system as he stands up for what is right. Actor Suraj Venjaramoodu makes an impactful appearance in this film, which also marked the Malayalam debut of Tamil actor. Arya Salim is seen as the fiery activist CK Shanthi in Narivetta, which brought back the attention on a sensitive and relevant topic.
