Lokah box office collection day 13: Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role of a superhero, continues to rake in good numbers at the box office. The film, helmed by Dominic Arun, has long been adjudged as the Onam winner, increasing its victory margin with its nearest competitor Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam, by the day. The Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer is set to breach the Rs 200 crore mark, as per industry tracker Sacnilk, while Hridayapoorvam is a long way away even from the Rs 100-crore club.

Lokah vs Hridayapoorvam box office

The 2025 Malayalam film Lokah Chapter 1 - Chandra released in theatres on August 28, along with Mohanlal’s Hridaypoorvam for Onam. The star power of Mohanlal meant that Hridaypoorvam scored the victory on opening day with Rs 3.25 crore, while Lokah settled for Rs 2.7 crore. But the narrative changed from day 2, with Lokah taking the lead. And since then, there has been no looking back for the woman superhero film, emerging to become the fourth highest-grossing Malayalam film ever behind L2 Empuraan, Manjummel Boys and Thudarum. Notably, both Empuraan and Thudarum star Mohanlal in the lead role, and are blockbusters of 2025.

The total worldwide collections of Lokah stand at Rs 196 crore, while Hridayapoorvam is Rs 63 crore, showing a stark difference of over Rs 130 crore. These are huge numbers for Lokah, with a young star at the centre and focussing on a woman superhero’s story.

Lokah is backed by actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan, who also makes a cameo appearance in the film. The Malayalam film is now expanding to other countries of Malaysia and Singapore, while it continues its strong performance in Australia and Germany.

Two other films also released for Onam - Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira with Fahadh Faasil and Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Maine Pyar Kiya of Hridhu Haroon and Preity Mukhundhan. Both the films failed to make any dent at the box office, with Fahadh's Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira making just Rs 1.43 crore, while Maine Pyar Kiya was left with Rs 0.38 crore.
