Maadeva OTT release date: When and where to watch Vinnod Prabhakar’s emotional drama

Maadeva OTT release date: Directed by Naveen Reddy, Maadeva paired Vinnod with his Roberrt co-star Sonal Monteiro. The film is now set to hit OTT.

Maadeva, directed by Naveen Reddy and starring Vinnod Prabhakar in the lead as the title character, a hangman whose life is changed around when he meets Sonal Monteiro’s Parvathi, released in theatres in early June. The film was said to have Vinnod in his career best performance, giving him a character whose arc is not about action or bombastic monologues. The film had a 25-day theatrical run and is now headed to OTT.

Maadeva coming to Z5

The digital streaming rights of Maadeva have been picked up by Zee Network and the film will begin streaming on Z5 on August 8. Maadeva is, interestingly, the first Kannada film of 2025 to make it to the platform. The last Kannada film that Z5 had acquired was Kiccha Sudeep’s Max. The film, written by Naveen, also stars Shruthi Krishna, Sringara Kitty, Achyuth Kumar and Malashri, among others.

As Maadeva, Vinnod plays a man devoid of all emotion, not only on account of his occupation, but also because of deep-buried trauma. A man of few words, numb to all around him, until he meets Parvathi, who sees Maadeva as the only hope to meet her estranged, jailed mother. She becomes the catalyst in Maadeva’s transformation.

In his pre-release interviews, Vinnod had been elated about the role, which was a far cry from his usual ones, which gave him nothing much to do besides 4-5 fights and barely anything in terms of a story. Naveen had apparently offered Maadeva to other mainstream heroes, but was met with rejection from all, as the fact that the character barely even speaks in the film was seen as a major deterrent.

When it eventually came to Vinnod, he jumped at the opportunity to prove to audiences that he’s more than just muscles and fights. And if the reviews the film received are anything to go by, Vinnod’s efforts have paid off.
