Maamannan second single: After Raasa Kannu, AR Rahman's Reggae to be out on THIS date

The song was sung by Vadivelu, marking his maiden song set to the tunes of Ponniyin Selvan 2 composer

The Maamannan team has today dropped a new update in which they have stated that the second single from the film, Reggae is all set to be out on May 27. The film's composer AR Rahman dropped a brand new poster in which he is looking all stylish. He captioned the picture, "Next Single Launching soon! #MAAMANNAN (sic)."

Mari Selvaraj wrote on his social media handle that the dream hero is here. He wrote, "It’s time for the next ride! Get ready for the journey ahead! The Dream Hero is here!! An @arrahmanReggae! #Maamannan (sic)." He also shared a picture in which he is seen conversing with the composer. Interestingly, Maamannan marks Mari Selvaraj's maiden collaboration with the Ponniyin Selvan 2 musician.

In the meantime, the first single Raasa Kannu, has already won the hearts of many. The song is sung by none other than Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu himself marking his first single for AR Rahman. Many have praised Vadivelu's rendition of the number and have called the song heart wrenching and haunting. Some have even gone on to state that Vadivelu deserves a National Award for the Best Singer for the song.

The song has some power-packed lyrics penned by Yugabharathi and it delves into the pain and agony faced by the oppressed communities due to discrimination against them by privileged castes. This is the first time that Vadivelu had sung in AR Rahman's composition.

ARR had dropped a glimpse of the recording session and had called the experience of making Vadivelu sing, memorable. The lyric video also provides a glimpse of Theni Eswar's cinematography.

Maamannan features Vadivelu in the titular character, along with Udhayanidhi Stalin, Fahadh Faasil and Keerthy Suresh in the lead. The political drama, which is set in the western region of Tamil Nadu and the majority of the portions are shot in Salem. Maamannan marks Udhayanidhi's last film as an actor.
