Kamal Haasan on Fahadh Faasil’s Maareesan

The upcoming Tamil film Maareesan stars Fahadh Faasil as a conman, who joins an Alzheimer's patient (Vadivelu) on a road trip. Ahead of the film’s big release on July 25, Maareesan has won high praise from none other than Kamal Haasan.

Taking to his Twitter account, Kamal Haasan shared that he watched Maareesan, “a film that dances effortlessly between wit and depth, leaving me laughing, thinking, and admiring its craft.” He also shared that he congratulated the team

“Beneath its humour lies a socially conscious lens on human emotion and a keen gaze at the darker shadows of our society. The kind of inventive, spirited cinema I naturally gravitate towards - both as viewer and creator,” remarked the actor, who is known for some of the best Tamil films.

On the other hand, Fahadh also recently spoke about his rapport with Kamal Haasan in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India.

He said that when they both meet, the veteran and the popular star just crack jokes, like 2-3 hours. Saying they talk about general stuff, he remarked, “It's nothing to do with cinema.” He even recalled an instance when he called the legendary actor to ask him about shooting a particular scene. Both Fahadh and Kamal starred in the Tamil film Vikram, which is now streaming on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium.

Kamal Haasan Films to Binge Now

On the other hand, Kamal Haasan’s last release was Thug Life, helmed by auteur filmmaker Mani Ratnam. There was much expectation from the movie, considering the collaboration of two stalwarts, but the film ended as a miserable flop. Thug Life is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
