The plot of Maarigallu

Maarigallu is set in the 90s in a village near Sirsi. According to the official plot synopsis, Maarigallu follows a group of friends, who set out in search of a lost Kadamba treasure. In doing so, they awaken something far more dangerous than they ever imagined. The hunt soon turns into a nightmare, where faith, greed, and fear collide in the dark heart of the forest. Every clue leads them closer to the truth, and to the curse that guards it.

The teaser of Maarigallu had excited fans of the late Power Star, as it featured an AI-generated version of him as Mayurasharma, the first king of the Kadamba dynasty. This had sparked excitement, with fans hopeful of seeing more of the actor’s digital avatar. However, the makers have now clarified that this bit will not be in the show and that it had only been done as a tribute to Puneeth. According to Pradeepa, who heads Kannada originals at Zee, the show will be available in 7 languages.

Speaking at the trailer launch of Maarigallu, Devraj explained that they went from pitching the subject to shooting the show in only 9 months, and that they wrapped up principal photography in early October only, owing to minor rain delays while shooting in live locations in Sirsi.
