Mayur Kadi turned writer, director and hero for Maatonda Heluve, a love story set in Uttara Karnataka that hit theatres in June this year, a time when the Kannada industry was still in the firm grip of a box office drought. So, no prizes for guessing what its theatrical outcome was like. However, the film had received fairly positive reviews, which has now ensured that it has bagged an OTT outing - a luxury for Kannada films these days. Maatonda Heluve will drop on Sun NXT (and via OTTplay Premium) on September 19, 2025.

Maatonda Heluve is the latest Kannada film to drop on Sun NXT, after the likes of Kapata Nataka Sutradhari, Hebbuli Cut, X&Y, Vidyapati, Nimma Vasthugalige Neeve Javaabdaararu, Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi, Maryade Prashne, Laughing Buddha, Rakshasa, Nimitta Matra, Shivamma, Upadhyaksha and many more.

Mayur’s film has him play an RJ called Mayur, who hosts a show called Patch Up Stories with Mayur for a radio station in Hubballi-Dharwad. Mayur’s a love guru of sorts, doling out relationship advice to couples dealing with trouble in paradise. Despite all this worldly wisdom on all things love, Mayur is single and still waiting for that special someone in his life.

He then meets Kushi with whom he forms an instant bond. But shortly after, she disappears from his life, sending Mayur on a journey for answers and closure. The reason behind Kushi’s sudden departure and whether or not Mayur finds her forms the rest of the narrative.

The movie’s setting, which was largely in north Karnataka and represented the culturen and dialect of the region, as well as portions set in Mysuru, were said to be major highlights. Mayur was paired with Apurva Aradhya, while Giri Shivanna, PD Sathish Chandra, Karthik Pattar, Vidyasagar Dixit, Pratik Radder and Chetan Marambeed, were also on the cast.
