AR Murugadoss, who has given some hit films like Ghajini, and Ramana, is back to Tamil cinema with the upcoming action thriller Madharaasi. The film is fronted by Sivakarthikeyan and will hit theatres on September 5. AR Murugadoss who is coming back to Tamil cinema after a gap, and especially after his last film in Hindi, Sikander, did not work well, it is crucial that Madharaasi wins. Ahead of the film’s release, the filmmaker spoke about how hailed Tamil filmmakers like Mani Ratnam and Shankar films have not performed well.

In a recent conversation with YouTube channel Valaipechu, AR Murugadoss was asked about how off late, celebrated filmmakers like Mani Ratnam and Shankar films have not been doing well (Thug Life, Indian 2, Game Changer). To this, AR Murugadoss replied that both the filmmakers are big directors and cannot be determined by one slip.

Murugadoss went on to add that Shankar was able to spread a social message through the grandeur of his filmmaking. "These filmmakers are once who create the path and the obstacles are bound to happen for those who are trying something new. As someone who have been observing them for a while, I cannot let them down,” Murugadoss said.

Murugadoss said that he is still learning from his seniors. "There are legends from our own industry. People talk about 100 crore, but when other filmmakers are focussing on entertaining, Tamil filmmakers are educating and teaching people what to do and not.”

Madharaasi is an action thriller which will release on September 5.
