Actor Mamitha Baiju, who shot to fame with romantic comedy Premalu, is now gearing up for the release of her Tamil film Dude. The film is set to release for Diwali on October 17, and fans are excited to see her pairing with actor and filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan. Dude is written and directed by Keerthiswaran, who recently spoke about how he chanced upon Mamitha and roped her in for Dude.

How Mamitha Baiju was cast in Dude

Dude is one of the three Diwali releases scheduled in Tamil cinema this week. The film stars Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju in their first onscreen collaboration. Debutant Keerthiswaran, who helmed the project, in a conversation with SS Music, said how he cast Mamitha into the project, and it has got to do with seeing her clip from a Malayalam film she acted in.

“Once I locked the producers for Dude, and we were looking for whom to cast as the heroine, I chanced upon an Instagram reel. It was from Super Sharanya, and that time, Premalu had not been released. We liked her attitude and watched the film. I wanted something like that for my movie as well. The producers too were okay and by the time we approached her, Premalu had released. She became a sensation, and then I met her. After narration, she got excited and came into the project,” he said.

Mamitha Baiju and Pradeep Ranganthan’s Dude is set to release in theatres on October 17. It will be competing with Dhruv Vikram-Mari Selvaraj’s Bison and Harish Kalyan’s Diesel. The film is touted to be a romantic entertainer and also stars Sarathkumar, Rohini, Hridhu Haroon and others. Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights, with Sai Abhyankkar scoring the music.
