Director Anil Ravipudi, who is expecting the release of his next film Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu for Sankranthi, opened up about working with Vijay and how there were some meetings between the duo and possible collaboration but did not work out. Incidentally, Vijay’s farewell film Jana Nayagan is remake of Anil’s film Bhagavanth Kesari.

Amid the Jana Nayagan censor row, and the Vijay-starrer release put on hold, director Anil Ravipudi is promoting his upcoming film Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu starring Chiranjeevi, Nayanthara, Venkatesh Daggubati and others. While Jana Nayagan is touted as Vijay’s last film and is said to be remake of Anil’s Bhagavanth Kesari, the Telugu director opened about the conversations he had with Vijay.
The director recalled about how he had several discussions with Vijay and all of them involved in making with an original script. "I was very clear that I did not want to remake any film. Since it is also his last film, I had offered him many original scripts but he liked it (Bhagavanth Kesari) very much." However, he added that when Vijay's final film will release, it will shatter all box office records. Jana Nayagan, which is his farewell film was supposed to have been released on January 9.
Jana Nayagan’s trailer has revealed that the film’s story is taken from Bhagavanth Kesari directed by Anil Ravipudi and starring Nandamuri Balakrishna.
An official release date for Jana Nayagan is yet to be announced after it was postponed from January 9. The censor row is currently at the Madras High Court, with the next hearing scheduled on January 21. The makers have not received censor certificate so far, causing the delay. Directed by H Vinoth, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Narain, and others. The film’s music is scored by Anirudh Ravichander.
