Psycho Saithan from Kiccha Sudeep's Mark left a lot to be desired, with netizens opining that the first single from Darshan’s The Devil, Idre Nemdiyaag Irbek, was better

Late on October 6, the makers of Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep’s Mark released the film’s first single, Psycho Saithan. Fans were thrilled to see Sudeep busting a few moves and the hook step from the B Ajaneesh Loknath composition soon went viral, but overall, the song has not caught on as the makers expected. Sudeep put his trademark swag on full display in the reasonably catchy tune. What has left his fans disappointed are the lyrics by filmmaker Anup Bhandari.

Comments ranged from “Lyrics dabba thara ide”, to “Feels like someone dubbed it to Kannada from Tamil”, and asking Anup to stick to direction and not venture into the lyric writing space. Anup has been a regular lyricist for Sudeep films since Vikrant Rona, after he did the Kannada version of the Dabangg 3 songs. Such was the backlash to the song, that many felt that the first single from Darshan Thoogudeepa’s upcoming The Devil, Idre Nemdiyaag Irbek, was better fan service than Psycho Saithan. When OTTplay last checked, the Kannada version of the song was unavailable and had been turned to private; the Tamil one is still up, though.

Netizens also noted that while Sudeep busting a few moves was enough to have audiences go wild when they see it on the big screen, they could not help but feel that the overall vibe was a mix of Lion’s Roar and Maximum Mass from the actor’s earlier Max . In fact, the buzz is that Mark was initially meant to be Max 2, which has been modified to create a new character, Ajay Markandey. Sudeep will yet again be a cop with beast instincts.
Vijay Kartikeyaa’s film, meanwhile, is meant to be in theatres for Christmas 2025, a plan that Sudeep is hell-bent on sticking to. The question that remains is whether composer Arjun Janya will go ahead and have his film 45 clash with Mark over the festival holiday. Although Sudeep had said that he was targeting a Christmas release way back in July, no one had thought the team would be able to pull it off and that is why Arjun went ahead and announced the date for his film.
The composer considers Sudeep his mentor in the industry and would prefer no competition, but since 45 has already been delayed from August, there are market dynamics at play.
