Prime Video has announced the launch of the much-awaited third Indian chapter of the internationally acclaimed Modern Love Franchise. Modern Love Chennai will be released on 18th May. Produced under the banner of Tyler Durden And Kino Fist, Modern Love Chennai brings together six brilliant creators of Indian cinema—Bharathiraja, Balaji Sakthivel, Rajumurugan, Krishnakumar Ramakumar, Akshay Sundher, and Thiagarajan Kumararaja.

The six-episode anthology presents a bouquet of compelling and unique love stories set in the city of Chennai that explore relationships, push boundaries, and open minds.

The anthology will have six episodes.


Lalagunda Bommaigal, which will be directed by Rajumurugan, features Sri Gouri Priya, Vasudevan Murali, and Vasundhara and has music composed by Sean Roldan.

Imaigal, on the other hand, is directed by Balaji Sakthivel, and features Ashok Selvan and TJ Bhanu. Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
Kaadhal Enbadhu Kannula Heart Irukkura Emoji, directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, features Ritu Varma, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Pawan Alex, and Aniiruth Kanakarajan and has music composed by GV Prakash Kumar.

Margazhi is directed by Akshay Sundher, features Sanjula Sarathi, Chu Khoy Sheng, and Srikrishna Dayal and has music composed by Ilaiyaraaja.
Paravai Kootil Vaazhum Maangal is directed by Bharathiraja, features Kishore, Ramya Nambessan, and Vijayalakshmi and has music composed by Ilaiyaraaja,

Ninaivo Oru Paravai is directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, features Wamiqa and PB and has music composed by Ilaiyaraaja.

The lyrics for the songs are penned by maestro Ilaiyaraaja, Yugabharathi, and Bakkiyam Sankar.

“Love stories and rom-coms have never been my cup of tea. Thus, Modern Love Chennai was an interesting challenge. It has been a pleasure to partner with Prime Video to bring the latest Indian edition to the viewers,” said Thiagarajan Kumararaja, creator of the series and writer-director of one of the episodes.

He adds, “With these stories, we have explored and celebrated the old-world charm of the city, which remains rooted in a distinct blend of tradition and modernity. All the stories in this anthology take us through the journey of exploring the very complicated, and yet very simple, emotion—love—in all its eclectic forms. With Modern Love Chennai, viewers can expect a beautiful bouquet of love stories that are funny and quirky, at the same time deep and intense, engaging hearts while offering a glimpse into the soul of Chennai and its unique terrains and diverse inhabitants.”

The Amazon Original series will premiere in India and across 240 countries and territories worldwide on May 18, 2023.
