Right after being honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 71st National Awards, Mohanlal has returned to the set of one of his most highly anticipated films - Drishyam 3. The Jeethu Joseph directorial kickstarted the shooting on September 22, 2025, and fans are eagerly waiting to know the tale of the protagonist Georgekutty in the third part. Mohanlal has forewarned that something will happen to Georgekutty in Drishyam 3, while assuring fans that the upcoming film would not be bad!

Mohanlal returns as Georgekutty, an ordinary man who will go to any extent to protect his family, in Drishyam 3. When Mathrubhumi News asked Mohanlal, what would happen to Georgekutty in the upcoming installment, the superstar quipped that one has to watch the movie to know that.

"Only the first shot has been taken. I have the read the script but I don’t know how it will be presented,” he remarked.

Talking about the national popularity of Drishyam, Mohanlal said that not just in Kerala, but audiences in other languages are also waiting to watch this movie. He further added that filmmaker Jeethu Joseph would do justice to their hopes.

“After the first film was a hit, we were tense about the second movie and now we have to take it to the next level. Anyways, it won’t be a bad film. Something will happen to Georgekutty,” he added.

Georgekutty in Drishyam 1, 2

Georgekutty, the protagonist of Drishyam movies, is shown as a street-smart chap, though he has only limited education. In the first film, the cable TV operator Georgekutty’s life is upended when a top police officer’s son Varun is killed on his premises and the family comes under the police radar. In one of the best climaxes in Malayalam cinema, Georgekutty turns the tables on the cops in the final act and escapes the law.
