Ever since director Vineeth Sreenivasan unveiled the track list of his upcoming directorial Hridayam, people have been waiting with bated breath to hear the songs and to know what the music adds to the film, starring Pranav Mohanlal, Darshana Rajendran and Kalyani Priyadarshan. The entire tracklist was released on Monday, at the audio launch held in Kochi that had superstar Mohanlal as the chief guest.

Apart from the digital release of Hridayam’s songs, the film’s music will be made available in audio cassettes and CDs. Talking about bringing audio cassettes back, Mohanlal said at the function, “Back in the 90s, when the music industry was going through a crisis, we released His Highness Abdullah. It was a film that had given a lot of precedence to music. It sold a lot of audio cassettes and that trend continued with the consequent movies such as Bharatham and Kamaladalam, in which too music was integral to the story.”

The actor then said that in the past few decades, Malayalam cinema has taken another path. “However, I am happy Hridayam will bring that era of music back in a new expression,” he said.

Mohanlal also went on to add that the movie was special to him, not just because his son Pranav was acting in Hridayam, but because the children of his friends were acting, producing and directing it. Visakh Subramaniam of Merryland Cinemas is backing Hridayam.

Hridyam has a total of 15 songs, composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab. The team had released the side A tracks a few days ago, and unveiled the side B songs on Monday. The coming-of-age campus drama, which was shot in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, is set to hit theatres on January 21. It revolves around the life of Pranav’s character Arun, from his college days till his marriage.
