The Devil, 45 and Mark - three star-led films in theatres in December. Will all be on OTT in Jan 2026?

It’s been a while since Kannada audiences had much to look forward to on OTT. There was Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 in late October and then Yuva Rajkumar’s much-delayed Ekka in November. Since then, while there has been the occasional Kannada release on platforms like Z5 and Sun NXT, there wasn’t anything to grab eyeballs, but that could change in the new year, what with December having had not one or two, but three star-led releases.

Here’s a look at the major Kannada films on OTT in January 2026

45

Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, 45, was the first of the December releases to secure a satellite and digital streaming deal, which was not surprising, given the composer’s long association as reality show judge on a popular GEC network. The satellite and digital rights rest with Zee Network, meaning that the OTT partner is Zee5, and television, Zee Kannada. The film is expected to be on OTT by the 4-week mark.

Mark

Kiccha Sudeep’s last two theatrical releases, Vikrant Rona and Max, had been picked up by Zee Network, so, the assumption was that Mark would also follow suit. However, according to reports, JioHotstar has got the rights, a deal that was likely forged after Sudeep was signed up on a 4-year contract for Bigg Boss Kannada. The streamer is not very active as far as Kannada content goes, but did acquire the hit comedy Su From So, which then dropped a little after the 4-week mark. This, though, was a post-theatrical deal. With Mark, a 4-week OTT outing is more likely.

The Devil

Challenging Star Darshan’s The Devil was the first of the three star led films in theatres and hit theatres without an OTT partner on board. The film had a massive box office opening, which then slowed down. Closer to the two-week mark, The Devil was said to have grossed around Rs 35 cr only, against a budget rumoured to be in the vicinity of Rs 60 cr. The film had been released in the actor’s absence, as he is currently in jail as an undertrial in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.
