Mother's Day: Virumaandi actress Abhirami reveals news of adopting a baby girl

The actress revealed through her social media post that she and her husband Rahul have adopted a girl child

It's indeed been a special Mother's Day for Abhirami. The Virumaandi actress revealed that she and her husband Rahul had adopted a girl child a year ago. The couple have named their daughter Kalki. She not only called the experience life-changing, but also stated that she was blessed to celebrate the day as a new mother.

ATaking to her social media handle, Abhirami wrote, "Rahul and I are thrilled to announce that we are now parents to a baby girl, Kalki! We adopted our daughter last year, and it has been life-changing in every way.Today, I am blessed to celebrate Mother's Day as a new mother myself.My family and I request your blessings as we embark on our newest role (sic)." She also wished all the mothers a Happy Mothers Day.

Abhirami and Rahul tied the knot in 2009. The couple did not have children. After Abhirami shared the heartwarming news, wishes have been pouring in for the couple. Actress Divya Unni was one of the first to wish her.

Abhirami made her debut on screen as a child artist with Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Kathapurushan in 1995. Born Divya Gopikumar, she changed her screen name to Abhirami, the name which shot to popularity in Kamal Haasan's Guna.

Interestingly, the actress also went on to work with Ulaganayagan in Virumaandi and also fetched laurels for the role. Kamal Haasan had also praised the actress for speaking in the Madurai accent so fluently despite hailing from Kerala. Later, Abhirami provided the voiceover for Pooja Kumar in both parts of Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam.

Her repertoire of work includes many projects in the south which include Njangal Santhushtaranu, Megasandesham, Middle Class Madhavan, Samudhiram, Virumaandi, Apothecary, 36 Vayadhinile, Maara and Nitham Oru Vaanam. She will now be seen in Garudan in which she will team up with Suresh Gopi. She was last seen in the web series Oru Kodai Murder Mystery.
