Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan won his first National Film Award under the category of Best Actor for his performance in the 2023 Hindi action drama Jawan. The actor who plays double role in the film directed by Atlee, had expressed his gratitude to his family, filmmakers he worked with and fans. Taking to social media, Atlee congratulated his Jawan actor and said that it is “very emotional and inspiring” to be part of the actor’s journey.

Atlee, known for his films like Raja Rani, Mersal and Theri, made his Hindi debut with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan in 2023. While the film was commercially a blockbuster, it also turned out be a way for critical acclaim for Shah Rukh Khan. In the Friday’s announcement of the 71st National Film Awards, Shah Rukh Khan was conferred with his first ever National Film Award as Best Actor.

Atlee expressed his joy over the actor’s win and penned a long post on X. Congratulating SRK his win, Atlee wrote, “It feels very emotional and inspiring to be part of your journey. Thank you for trusting me and giving this film, sir. It’s just my first love letter to you; a lot more to come, sir.” The filmmaker also thanked SRK’s wife Gauri Khan, their production banner Red Chillies Entertainment which backed Jawan, and the film’s cast and crew which helped in making the film.

“As a fanboy, working with you and making a film and presenting it in a mass mode of SRK, sir, is a pure, pure blessing from God, and finally, God is so kind to give us back the greatest moment in our life . Can’t ask for more, sir. This is more than enough for me; I’m the best fanboy of yours, sir. Love you. Love you. Love you. Lots of love sir,” Atlee expressed his joy.

SRK released a video thanking everyone for his win. Beginning with the panel members, and then the filmmakers he worked with, including Atlee, and fans SRK said that his work as an actor is a responsibility to show truth on screen.
