It is a big week for the OTT space in South cinema as two biggies from Malayalam and Tamil are set to make their digital premieres. Mohanlal-led L2 Empuraan, the sequel of 2019 Lucifer is the most-awaited Malayalam film in the digital space. Chiyaan Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2 will also make its much-anticipated digital premiere. Another exciting release is from Kannada - a ZEE5 original series titled Ayyana Mane. Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, was the big Malayalam release last month. Despite running into controversies, the second installment in the Lucifer trilogy raked in impressive numbers at the box office. Mohanlal returns as Khureshi Ab’raam in Empuraan, which tracks the rise of a new political force in Kerala. Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas and Indrajith are also part of the film, along with a star-studded cast.

Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2

Kaali, now the owner of a grocery shop, once worked as a henchman. The powerful Ravi seeks his help after the local SP targets him and his son. Vikram stars in the lead role of Kaali, along with SJ Suryah as the SP, Ravi Prudhvi Raj as Ravi and Suraj Venjaramoodu (in his Tamil debut) plays Kannan. Watch the rustic actioner, with long single shots, for an immersive experience.

Ayyana Mane

Language: Kannada

Set in the 1990s, the series follows newlywed Jaji as she shifts to her husband's house, unearthing secrets connected to deaths in the family. Ayyana Mane, written and directed by Ramesh Indira, is the first Kannada original web series of Zee5. The narrative of the 6-part series sounds interesting and deserves to be on this list.

Kotha Kothaga

Where to watch: ETV Win, OTTplay Premium

OTT release date: April 24, 2025

Language: Telugu

Kotha Kothaga released in theatres in 2022, and failed to create garner any attention. The film flopped and now has found a streaming platform, after more than two years. Ajay Aman and Virti Vaghani star in the lead roles in the film, which follows engineering college students Sidhu and Rajee.
