Superstar Mohanlal returns to the small screen with his popular reality show Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7. The other big OTT release of the week is Telugu film Thammudu, which would be looking to garner more attention after a poor run in theatres. There are also the lesser known films such as Red Sandal Wood and Surabhila Sundara Swapnam set for their digital premieres. Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7

Malayalam is set to kick off the Bigg Boss saga of the year with its seventh season eyeing a grand launch on August 3. Several other Bigg Boss shows, including the Salman Khan-hosted show, are yet to announce the release date. New themes of heaven and hell, an exclusive house and probable list of candidates are being discussed online.

Surabhila Sundara Swapnam

Release date: August 1, 2025

Release platform: Sun NXT via OTTplay Premium

Language: Malayalam

Though the first-look poster of Surabhila Sundara Swapnam was released back in 2024, the film did not see an immediate release. Now, the film has skipped its theatrical release and is set for a direct-to-OTT release. Actors Paul Viji Va rghese, Dayyana Hameed, Rajalakshmi Rajan, and Sony Sojan form the cast of the film, which follows an ordinary man’s pursuit of his dream.

Thammudu

OTT release date: August 1, 2025

Platform: Netflix

Language: Telugu

Telugu actor Nithin headlines Thammudu, which depicts the close bond shared by a brother and sister. A youth embarks on a perilous journey after his sister is kidnapped. Sapthami Gowda of known for the much-talked about Kannada film Kantara is also a part of the film. But Thammudu had a disastrous run at the theatre. Despite, Thammudu is expected to garner more attention upon its theatrical release.

Red Sandal Wood

OTT Release Date: July 31, 2025

Where to watch: ETV Win via OTTplay Premium

Language: Tamil

Like how the title indicates, the film delves into the criminal world of red sandalwood smuggling. Actors Vetri and Diya Mayuri play the lead roles in the film, which is helmed by filmmaker Guru Ramanujam. The Tamil film released in theatres way back in September 2023, and won appreciation for tackling serious subject.
