Chhorii was released in 2021 to mixed reviews, but filmmaker Vishal Furia is planning to return with a sequel to terrify fans even more. Chhorii 2 reunites him with Nushrratt Bharuccha and introduces Soha Ali Khan to the cast. The Prime Video horror-thriller will remain faithful to the genre without crossing over into horror comedy.

Nushrratt Bharuccha calls Chhorii 2 as horror with a message

Chhorii 2 strives to provide a disturbing emotional experience in a genre where jump scares and catchy marketing tricks generally take precedence. In an interview with Mid Day, Bharuccha revealed that a popular song is missing from the film. The film lacks some key marketing tools. Their story is fantastic, and they have faith in the performances. Their goal is to create a quality film.

In spite of the fact that horror-comedies have become popular in India, particularly with the success of Stree and similar films, Furia sticks to the genre's traditional principles while adding social commentary.

But the tale is more important than the message to Bharuccha. Everyone aspires to be an actor for different reasons. People mainly wanted to act when she started. If the story works, it works, she explains, stating that she has always believed this.

Nushrratt Bharuccha's psychological journey into fear

Bharuccha was unexpectedly at ease while filming Chhorii 2 although she personally cannot endure horror flicks. She is not the type to watch scary films. However, the film veers more towards psychological and human horror; it is about people doing horrendous things to people, she explains, expanding on the idea that the film is about more than just horror.

The sequel's release couldn't have come at a better time, given the horror genre's recent surge in popularity in Indian cinema. The actor said that, surprisingly, the genre now includes beast and vampire stories as well as sci-fi. That there have been so many successful horror films between Chhorii and Chhorii 2 makes her happy. Now that the genre has gained a lot of attention, the sequel is arriving just when everyone wants it. It is a blessing, and everything she's betting on is solid in her mind. Bharuccha gets up and makes another film if it doesn't happen; if it does, her faith is validated. What matters is that she is empowered to make decisions, she thinks to herself.

Chhorii 2 isn't simply about jump scares; Bharuccha and Furia want to make a real impact. On April 11, 2025, Prime Video will release the film.
