Parasakthi box office collection Day 3: Sivakarthikeyan’s political drama collections have nosedived in its first Monday with Rs 2.75 crore earned, failing to capitalise on Jana Nayagan’s absence

Sivakarthikeyan leads Parasakthi, Vijay stars in Jana Nayagan
Parasakthi box office collection day 3: The Pongal festival season has not turned out to be a great outing as far as Tamil Cinema is concerned. Even as censor issues plague Vijay’s film Jana Nayagan, the only release of Parasakthi is also struggling at the box office. Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan’s political drama film collections have nosedived in its first Monday with just Rs 2.75 crore earned, clearly failing to capitalise on Jana Nayagan’s absence at the box office race.

The total worldwide collection of the Parasakthi movie is Rs 48.03 crore, while the India net collection of Parasakthi is now at Rs 25.35 crore, as per trade tracker Sacnilk. Helmed by Sudha Kongara, Parasakthi also faced concerns about release after the Censor certificate delay, but eventually hit theatres on January 10, 2026. The Tamil film made a solid Rs 12.5 crore on its opening day, with a drop on the second day when it made Rs 10.1 crore. However, the period political drama film saw a massive drop of 72.77 per cent on day 3 as it had to settle for just Rs 2.75 crore.
A drop was expected as day 3 was a Monday, but the massive drop does not paint a good picture for Parasakthi as it heads to the festive weekend when more Tamil films would be hitting the screens such as Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil.
This fall in number comes even as Vijay’s much-anticipated Jana Nayagan had to postpone its January 9 release. Jana Nayagan would have drawn bigger crowds (at least initially), considering it is Vijay’s final film before he quits cinema to work in politics.
