Parasakthi is a 2026 Tamil political action drama, starring actor Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role along with Ravi Mohan. The film made Rs 12.5 crore in the India net collection on day 1, and with the day 2 collections of Rs 10.15 crore, Parasakthi has made a total collection of 22.65 crore, as per Sacnilk
A tale of anti-Hindi agitations, Parasakthi opened to mixed reviews but being the sole release this weekend at the Tamil box office, the Sudha Kongara directorial would be seeking to make the most of it.
The film, a Pongal release hit theatres on January 10, 2026, though there were concerns about its release after it got entangled in Censor issues, similar to other big Tamil film of Jana Nayagan. However, the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer managed to release in theatres on Saturday, even as there is no confirmation over when actor-politician Vijay’s much-anticipated film Jana Nayagan would be released. Jana Nayagan was initially slated to release in theatres on January 9, but got embroiled in a row with the CBFC. And without question, the absence of Jana Nayagan gives the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer a wider berth until the next set of films, including Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, arrive this coming Friday for Pongal weekend.
Set in the 1960s, Parasakthi takes us back to a volatile Madras state which witnessed a wave of anti-Hindi stir after the Centre sought to make it the official language. Sivakarthikeyan plays Chezhiyan, a spirited youth, who opposed the move and joined the protests. Actors Ravi Mohan and Atharvaa play other key roles in the film, which features Sreeleela as the female lead.
Malayalam actor-filmmaker Basil Joseph also makes a cameo appearance in the Tamil period film, along with Telugu star Rana Daggubati and Dhananjay.
