Director Sudha Kongara is expecting the release of her next film, Parasakthi. The film is headlined by Sivakarthikeyan and is gearing up for release on January 14 in theatres for Pongal 2026. Parasakthi is a period drama starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, along with actors Atharvaa, Sreeleela, and Ravi Mohan. Recently, in a magazine interview, the filmmaker gave a gist of her film and what to expect.

Parasakthi is one of the two major Tamil films scheduled to hit theatres in January 2026. The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer is written and directed by filmmaker Sudha Kongara. In a recent interview to Vikatan, the director gave a gist about the film and what to expect, hinting about the roles each star plays. Along with Sivakarthikeyan, actors Atharvaa, Sreeleela, and Ravi Mohan are part of Parasakthi.

Speaking to Vikatan, Sudha said that the story is set against the backdrop of political turbulence and narrates the story of a family with siblings. Sivakarthikeyan and Atharvaa play brothers, with the former a government employee and the latter a student of engineering. As the brothers clash over their ideologies, Sreeleela plays a minister's daughter and Sivakarthikeyan’s love interest. The rest of the film deals with the happenings in the society and how their relationships and lives change, leading to a larger struggle that rumbles in Tamil Nadu.

Parasakthi is set to release for Pongal on January 14, 2026. The film has music by GV Prakash Kumar and marks the Tamil debut of Sreeleela. It is to be noted that the project was initially kick-started with Suriya, Nazriya, Vijay Verma and Dulquer Salmaan. However, due to the film’s content, Suriya backed out and subsequently, the other stars as well. It is speculated that the film will talk about the anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu. The film’s post-theatrical streaming rights have been reportedly bagged by ZEE5 for Rs 52 crore.
