Patriot: Fahadh Faasil confirms he is the villain in Mohanlal, Mammootty film, reveals Aavesham 2 plans

Patriot is a much-anticipated film in 2026 as it brings together the titans of Malayalam cinema - Mohanlal and Mammootty. Fahadh Faasil is another notable name attached to the Mahesh Narayanan directorial, and the Aavesham actor has just confirmed he would be playing the villain in the movie. Not just that, Fahadh has dropped an update on Aavesaham 2 release plans.

What is Fahahd Faasil’s role in Patriot movie

During a recent event, Fahadh Faasil revealed his role in Patriot, stating that he would be playing the villain. Asserting that he is excited for the upcoming film, Fahad Faasil said, “It is a blessing to share screen with Mammootty sir and Mohanlal sir. It is a very interesting film. I am also waiting for the film like you.”

Patriot will release in theatres on April 23, 2026, three weeks after Mohanlal’s Drishyam. A spy thriller, Patriot also features Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Rajiv Menon, Darshana Rajendran, Revathy and several other names.

Fahadh Faasil has played villainous roles previously too and his character of IPS officer Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat in Allu Arjun’s Telugu blockbuster Pushpa films would be one of the most popular. On working across Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu cinema, Fahadh credited the directors of his movies for giving him such characters.

When will Aavesham 2 release

Fahadh Faasil played the memorable role of Rangannan in the 2024 movie Aavesham, which turned out to be a blockbuster hit. The makers had earlier announced plans for a sequel but there haven’t been any recent updates. Now, Fahadh has confirmed that the Aavesham sequel is indeed happening with the makers eying 2027 or 2028 release plans. Jithu Madhavan had directed Aaveshan, which also featured Sajin Gopu, Hipzster, Mithun Jai Sankar, and Roshan Shanavas.

After the success of Aavesham in 2024, Fahadh Faasil did not have the best of 2025 after his film Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira failed to connect with the audiences.
