Movie buffs who were waiting for Vijay Antony's directorial debut Pichaikkaran 2 were left shocked when he met with an accident during its shooting in Malaysia a while ago. Later, he underwent a surgery and said that things are on track to release the movie as per plans.

The project, which will hit the screens in Tamil and Telugu, will be out on May 19. Bichagadu 2 is the title makers have come up with for its Tollywood version. A few days ago, the team unveiled its trailer, giving a glimpse on what its story is going to be.

Unlike many assume, Pichaikkaran 2 isn't a proper sequel to Pichaikkaran which was helmed by Sasi in 2016. Priya Krishnaswamy of Baaram fame was supposed to helm the second part initially, but Vijay took the charge after creative differences. Kavya Thapar plays the female in it while Radha Ravi, Hareesh Peradi, Dev Gill and John Vijay among others essay crucial characters.

The film was in the news recently when producer Rajaganapathy filed a case against makers alleging copyright violation. According to him, the movie has lifted the idea from his film Aaivukoodam. He had requested the Madras High Court to stop the Vijay Antony-starrer from releasing in theatres on its announced date.

However, the court has come up with a verdict in favour of Pichaikkaran 2 and quashed evidence suggesting that there are similarities in the story. The film is Vijay's release after almost two years.
