A still from the film

Nemichand Jhabak, one of the producers of AC Mugil Chellappan's Pon Manickavel had taken to Twitter earlier today to surprise movie buffs by announcing that the movie will have a direct-to-OTT release on Disney+ Hotstar this month. Prabhu Deva and Nivetha Pethuraj play lead roles in the film, which has the former essaying the role of a cop for the first time.

The action thriller also happens to be his 50th project as an actor. It's been close to two years since the team had released the film's trailer. Jhabak had revealed that they will unveil a new trailer a few hours after the announcement he made.

The new trailer, which is of a minute's duration, also mentioned the OTT premiere date as November 19 towards its end. It showcases Prabhu Deva in the titular role taking up a sensational case and cracking it with brain and brawn. An unknown killer challenges the police department to stop a murder he will be committing in 12 hours.

The furious department ropes in the intelligent cop Pon Manickavel, an upright officer who has an impeccable track record. He is shown bashing up rowdies left, right and centre. While handing the case, he is seen uttering the lines, "I will tackle political interference. I don't want anyone disturbing me from our department. I will be myself."

The trailer ends with Prabhu Deva putting a gun in the mouth of a goon. When he is all set to pull the trigger, Baahubali fame Prabhakar requests him not to go ahead, but the former shouts, "Get out."
