The trailer of Ponniyin Selvan 2 is here; makers unveiled the three-and-a-half minute promo video at the film's audio and trailer event which happened at Chennai today evening. Kamal Haasan, one of the chief guests of the affair, released the trailer along with Mani Ratnam and Subaskaran.

As expected, it begins with the mystery surrounding Vanthiyathevan and Arunmozhi Varman. That Pandyas killed them turns out to be a rumour, but spreads like a wildfire among the Chola dynasty. Madhuranthakan is considered as the next king of the empire by Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar and Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyar.

However, a spate of unexpected things unfold after which Nandini's plans go haywire. Her face-off with Aditha Karikalan is one of the highlights of the action-packed trailer which has ample emotions and suspense-filled elements as well.

The excellence of AR Rahman's background score, Ravi Varman's visuals and Thota Tharani's production design is quite evident in the video, leaving fans enthralled. Ponniyin Selvan 2 is expected to be a fitting sequel to the first part which was released a few months ago. The second installment will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi on April 28.

Apart from Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan was another chief guest of the event which witnessed some interesting speeches by a few actors. While the likes of Rahman kept his speech short, Parthiban and Sarath Kumar brought the house down by narrating their experiences while filming the movie.

The team is likely to kick off the promotional tour soon and makers are expected to reveal their plans in the coming days. The project is eyeing a record theatrical release across Tamil Nadu. It is expected to surpass the figures earned by Thunivu and Varisu, and is likely to end up as the biggest opener of Tamil in 2023.
