It looks like after a short break, makers of Ponniyin Selvan are back with promotional activities. The team had released the character posters of all five actors, Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Trisha, Karthi and Jayam Ravi recently, followed by its much-awaited teaser.

Now, they have released a short BTS video which has Mani Ratnam, AR Rahman and Sivamani seen busy with the re-recording works of the ambitious project. Mani is spotted eagerly listening to the innovative sounds created by Rahman and Sivamani. The video ends by announcing that the movie's first single will be unveiled soon.

The most-anticipated Tamil movie this year, Ponniyin Selvan will hit the screens on September 30 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Parthiban, Jayaram, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Rahman and Sobhita Dhulipala among others play key roles in the project which has been produced by Mani's Madras Talkies along with Lyca Productions.

The mammoth project marks Mani's return after a four-year hiatus; his last film was the multi-starrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam which was released in 2018. Mani had recently revealed that he had made three attempts to make Ponniyin Selvan in the past, but in vain.

Thota Tharani and Sreekar Prasad are the art director and editor for the film respectively while Ravi Varman has cranked the camera for the movie. The movie is releasing in two installments, but the team is yet to announce the release date of its second part.

A few actors like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Prakash Raj and Karthi have teamed up earlier with Mani, while some others like Jayam Ravi, Jayaram and Vikram Prabhu are elated about their first collaboration with the master filmmaker.
