Tamil actor Pradeep Ranganathan’s latest film Dude is just hours away away from releasing in theatres on October 17, 2025. The young actor-filmmaker is busy with the Dude promotions along with Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju, who plays the female lead in the film. However, one of the videos of the two stars from a promotional event is garnering attention, and not for the right reasons.

During a recent promotional event for Dude held in Hyderabad, the film’s lead actors Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju recreated a scene from the film’s trailer. In the original scene, Mamitha’s character Kural is seeing bugging Pradeep’s Agan who responds with this is ‘not cute’. But for the recent event, there was a role reversal with Pradeep trying to irritate Mamitha. However, the actor was seen pulling her by the hair, a tad too aggressively, which has not gone down well with a section of the audience.

This particular clip is doing the rounds on Reddit forums with some calling it as ‘disgusting behaviour’. Another comment said ‘Creepy and annoying guy I feel bad for her’, while yet another person remarked ‘Deranged promotion tactics’ and ‘This is not even cute’.

However, several people also supported the Love Today actor, saying that it was a scene from the movie.

“Don't panic. Literally a scene from the movie dude. Damn what’s wrong with y’all,” read one comment. Yet another PR supporter said, “They are just recreating the scene from Dude trailer with the genders reversed.” There were those who said that the whole episode could have just been ‘scripted’.

Mamitha thanks Pradeep Ranganathan

After they enacted the trailer scene, Mamitha appeared calm and her jovial self. She also thanked Pradeep Ranganathan for all the support. "Pradeep sir, thank you so much for being such a wonderful co-star. The support you have given me, the space you have given me, thank you for that... It makes Dude special for me. For me, getting into the Tamil industry or acting in Tamil was konjam difficult, but you made it easier,” the Premalu actress said.

During the event, Pradeep also said that Mamitha has a lot of energy. “You saw me pulling her hair, no? It is nothing in front of her.” The actor-filmmaker went on to say that Mamitha kicked him such that even his phone fell and broke.
