Within a month of its theatrical run, the horror comedy Prakambanam in Malayalam became the first unexpected hit of 2026, earning over Rs 20 crore. In an interview with OTTplay, the film's director Vijesh Panathur discussed his plans to make a sequel for the movie in the future.

The director said that everyone is asking him if the film would have a sequel. He stated, "I am currently working on my upcoming action fantasy thriller, so I will not be working on its sequel anytime soon." According to Vijesh, the sequel's storyline has been finalized and he intends to make it a big budget undertaking. "I am more excited to work on the sequel the more people ask me about it. When the sequel is released, I anticipate that the audience is going to love it as well," he said.
