After announcing that Prithviraj Sukumaran will be acting and directing a web series based on Biscuit Baron Rajan Pillai’s life, the Malayalam superstar’s team has now denied that such a project was in the works.

Yoodlee Films, which was attached to produce the web show, had made the official announcement in December 2021 that such a project was planned. After a recent photograph of Prithviraj and Suriya surfaced online last month, many speculated that the Tamil superstar was in discussions with the actor-filmmaker for the same project.

However, a source from Prithviraj’s PR team now tells us that there is “no such biopic project” with Suriya that is being helmed by the Kaduva actor. “Prithviraj’s next two directorials are Empuraan and Tyson,” the source added. While the biopic might be dropped, rumours are abound that Suriya might do a cameo in Empuraan or Prithviraj would star in the Tamil actor's upcoming movie.

In a press note accompanying the web series’ announcement in 2021, Prithviraj had said, “This story has it all: ambition, success, a jet-setting lifestyle and then a hubris-induced fall. It will be very interesting to discover what made this charismatic personality tick and to relive his intriguing, complex life.”

However, it now seems that the project has been dropped or at least Prithviraj will not be at the helm. The actor has a packed schedule for the next two months, shooting for Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Ibrahim Ali Khan’s debut film and his remaining portions of Prabhas’ Salaar.

Prithviraj is also expected to complete one schedule of S Mahesh’s period thriller Kaaliyan, which is set in the 17th century and has him playing the role of the trusted confidante of Iravikutti Pillai. He will also be working on the pre-production of the second instalment of Lucifer titled Empuraan aka L2E.

The actor’s next Malayalam release is expected to be debutant filmmaker Jayan Nambiar’s Vilayath Buddha, which also has Shammi Thilakan and Priyamvada Krishnan. The movie is based on GR Indugopan’s novel of the same name.
