Raj & DK analyse The Family Man Season 3

During an appearance on Suchin Mehrotra's The OTT Series Roundtable 2025 on YouTube, Raj & DK were asked about the reception of The Family Man season 3. When the interviewer said that The Family Man season 3 is bigger and wider and it felt like The Family Man the world.

Manoj Bajpayee’s Defining Roles

Talking about this, Raj said that they did not want to go bigger and wider because he does not think there are any extra characters except the antagonists. "It was a conscious decision not to do a bigger scale because you always tend to, with any sequel. For us, we wanted to go inner, personal, make it about the family. So it was about them (the family), growing together, even though the conflict is external, it's as much internal as what we wanted. We wanted to actually withdraw. So maybe Jaideep looks bug and tall otherwise. The idea was to really focus on an internal journey and reflection."

He said that they thought if they were to look back in the series a few years from now, they wanted each season to be slightly distinct from the other one, rather than regurgitating what worked.

"So we wanted the third season to be a little more personal, the second was a bit more violent, more mainstream, so season 2 is more liked by people than others, and one was just fresh, so the third had to be personal. That is how we wanted to show."

Raj & DK on The Family Man Season 4

DK said, "The wider part comes because we saw it as a two-season arc. We wanted this to be a longer arc. Next, the interviewer said that the latest season ended on a cliffhanger and asked whether The Family Man season 4 is around the corner or not.

To this, Raj said, "There is a bigger story. There is a conscious choice to pause the story at the midpoint. The conflict is resolved."

Raj also shared one experience where he met a man watching The Family Man season 3 sitting beside him on a plane. However, the person did not know he was Raj. Raj asked him how it was and the person said that it was a great show and shared that there are 6 others also watching so he went and looked around. "Then as the plane touched down and I was waiting for him to either stop the show and pick it up later or finish the show. He was forwarding it quickly because he knew the time was getting over." Raj also said that after watching the show, he saw the credits, which impressed the creator.

"He goes back and scrolling back and down, seeing where is the eighth episode so I was like, 'oh shit.' So I asked him how the show was and he said 'It was a solid show. I think the fourth (The Family Man Season 4) is coming very soon.' So we said we should go back and work fast."

Meanwhile, DK said that the war has stopped, and the rest of the personal journey of the characters, each of them, is what remains now.
