When the trailer of the Kannada film Su from So from came out, one comment that stood out about the horror comedy set in coastal Mangaluru was that the team ought to dub it in Malayalam, as audiences there would appreciate the rooted content. At the subsequent media briefing the team had not confirmed plans to dub the film in any other language, but it seems that Raj B Shetty who has produced the film, has been keeping tab of audience requirements and has acted on it.

Tale of a mysterious ghost - Sulochana from Someshwar

Su from So will release simultaneously in Kerala with a Malayalam-dubbed version, which will be distributed across the state by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films. Su from So is the Kannada directorial debut of actor-filmmaker JP Thuminad, who also plays the lead character Ashok in the film. The film also stars Shaneel Gautam, Mime Ramadas, Deepak Rai Panaje, Prakash Tuminad, Sandhya Arekere, among others.

The story revolves around Ashok being ‘possessed’ by Sulochana from Someshwar and the events that unfold thereafter. Is there really a Sulochana from Someshwar or is Ashok taking the mickey of the villagers? The team has been quite tight-lipped about the plot, with Raj insisting that the content should do all the talking when it hits theatres.

After the first song, Danks Anthem, became a raging hit, the team had revealed a trailer, which, in turn, created massive intrigue, with audiences wondering if Raj is playing a surprise character in the film. He insists he’s only the producer and lyricist, but adds that there will be surprises galore in the film. Su from So introduces indie musician Sumedh K as composer, while S Chandrasekharan handled cinematography, along with Raj’s regular collaborator Praveen Shriyan.

Su From So is Raj’s latest production venture after Toby. As an actor, he was last seen in the anthology Roopanthara in Kannada, and was set to appear in Arjun Janya’s 45 in August, but that film is, reportedly, being postponed, owing to delays in the completion of VFX works. He will also be seen as the antagonist in Duniya Vijay’s Landlord, directed by Jadeshaa K Hampi.
