Masthishka Maranam actress Rajisha Vijayan recounts acting with Mammootty in the movie Kalamkaval, terming her experience as surreal. Mammootty played a serial killer in the 2025 hit movie.

Rajisha Vijayan, Mammootty in Kalamkaval

Malayalam actress Rajisha Vijayan is grabbing eyeballs with her stellar performance as Frida Soman in the latest Malayalam film, Masthishka Maranam. But before director Krishand’s experimental film, Rajisha was seen in a key role in the movie Kalamkaval, which featured megastar Mammootty as a sinister serial killer. In a recent chat with OTTplay, Rajisha touched upon her Kalamkaval experience as well, terming acting with Mammootty as surreal and it is not just because she is a fan.

What Rajisha Vijayan said about Mammootty

Kalamkaval is a 2025 Malayalam film, which saw Mammootty play the serial killer Stanley Das and Rajisha Vijayan as Divya, one of the young women he preyed upon. Speaking about her experience of working with the legend, Rajisha said that witnessing him transform in Stanley Das was surreal.

“I am such a huge fan. Working with Mammookka was surreal, not just because I am a fan of his and he is a legendary actor. But also because of witnessing him do a character like Stanley Das in person. I could not even understand when he shifted from himself into the character. It was that subtle,” she recounted.

Further talking about the person behind the megastar aura, Rajisha said he is one of the sweetest people she knows. “He is one of the most well-read, very aware kind of persons I know. So it is great conversing with him on a personal and professional level. So to act with him or stand in the same frame with him was a once-in-a-lifetime moment for me. I am very happy that I got to play a strong character also along with this opportunity. It is like a cherry on the top.”

Helmed by debutant director Jithin K Jose, Kalamkaval follows cop Jayakrishnan who comes across instances of missing women and realises that they have become victims of serial killing. Actor Vinayakan plays the determined cop, while Mammootty is the serial killer Stanley Das. Rajisha plays Divya, the only woman who is alive despite Stanley trying to kill her and she becomes key to the police apprehending him.
