Ravanaprabhu re-release box office report

Ravanaprabhu is a Mohanlal-starrer, helmed by Ranjith, which was a runaway hit when it first released in 2001. Also starring Vasundhara Das, the Malayalam film re-released in theatres in 4K on October 10, 2025, and is continuing its success story in a new era. As per online trackers, the first week worldwide gross of Ravanaprabhu is at Rs 3.9 crore.

Mohanlal has enjoyed a good run with almost all his re-releases minting profits in recent years. The biggest surprise was Devadoothan, which was a disappointing flop during its original release in 2000, but became one of the highest-grossing re-released films in 2024. This Mohanlal-starrer earned Rs 5.2 crore in 17 days, as per a report by Times of India.

Mohanlal Movies to Binge Now

Currently, Devadoothan tops Mohanlal’s re-release box office list. Ravanaprabhu has become the third-highest re-release grosser in Kerala after beating Spadikam, and now trails Chotta Mumbai and Devadoothan. Minting Rs 70 lakh on October 10, Ravanaprabhu was also among the top re-release openers in Kerala after Spadikam.

Videos of fans celebrating the film especially Mohanlal’s iconic dialogues of ‘Savari Giri Giri' and the song ‘Thakilu Pukilu’, have surfaced on Twitter.

For those not well-versed with Malayalam cinema of the 2000s and 1990s, Ravanaprabhu is the sequel to Devasarum, another cult film which was also a winner at the box office. While the 1993 movie chronicled the life of Mangalassery Neelakandan, his son Karthikeyan is the central character in the sequel. The 2001 film featured Mohanlal in dual roles as both father and son.
