Kannada star Rishab Shetty on Thursday evening tweeted a photo of himself with Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. And he captioned, "I met the honourable chief minister at Mookambika temple in Kollur. Don't give it a political colour. I'm fully invested in writing Kantara, keep giving me your love and blessings."

Despite Rishab's request, his latest tweet will be seen in the political context, especially at a time when Karnataka is getting ready for a highly-charged assembly election, which is due in the next few weeks. With the state gearing up for a contentious assembly election in the coming weeks, political leaders have already been utilizing star power to their advantage.

Earlier, Kannada superstar Sudeep expressed his support to CM Basavaraj Bommai. He will be one of the star campaigners for the BJP party in Karnataka. "When I was entering the film industry about 27 years ago, it was mama (Basavaraj Bommai) who stood by me and supported me in that difficult phase. If I am not wrong, he was foraying into politics around the same time. So, when he has done that, it is my duty to support him and I will do it in my best capacity," Sudeep said while adding that he won't be contesting elections.

Sudeep's political plunge took many by surprise as for long he had steered clear of politics. He had earlier noted that he "doesn't need political power to help people ." Sudeep's decision received mixed reactions.

Rishab, meanwhile, is busy writing the sequel to Kantara. He became a household name after his movie Kantara became a box office sensation. The movie was made on a small budget and was released in Kannada last year. However, the word-of-mouth that it generated was so strong that it went on to take the box office by storm across the country. The who's who of Indian cinema, including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, heaped praises on Kantara.

Rishab revealed that Kantara 2 will tell the story that happened before the events of Kantara.
